• Molecular Spintronics
is a new field of research that combines the ideas and concepts developed in spintronics with the possibilities offered by molecules to perform
electronic functions, to form self-organized nanostructures and to exhibit quantum effects.

It ultimate goal is the creation of new spintronic devices using molecular materials, or in the longer term one or a few molecules in the race
    toward miniaturization.
  • To reach this goal a coordinated effort of the communities of Spintronics, Molecular Electronics and Molecular Magnetism is needed.

These communities are developing a very competitive and high-quality work in Europe in their respective fields. Still, Molecular Spintronics is so
new that an initiative to encourage networking of researchers in this field is of paramount importance.

The present COST ACTION intends to fill this gap integrating these communities around a common Action that should serve to consolidate the
world-leadership of Europe in this field.

WG1&2 COST workshop on "Spins and interfaces", 25th October 2018
Hotel Papa Luna in Peñíscola (Castelló, Spain)

One of the key challenges in spintronics devices is the engineering of interfaces. Although much progress has been done in the last year in the tuning of ferromagnetic/molecular interfaces for spin injection and manipulation, there are still key questions standing regarding systems optimization, molecular chemistry and device performance both from the theoretical and experimental points of view.

The workshop aims to bring together specialists on molecular spintronics, molecular interfaces and device physics, provide a relaxed atmosphere to promote fruitful scientific discussions that contribute to develop molecular spintronic as a multidisciplinary field. The workshop will take place after the closing of the ECMOLS2018, on 25th of October 2018 from 9.00 to 17.00.

The workshop will mainly consist of invited talks plus a restricted number of contributed talks. Possible flash-presentations (5 min) could be also considered. The last hour will be devoted to a round-table for setting common challenges and nurturing collaborations.

Invited speakers will be confirmed shortly.

We would like to invite you to submit your abstracts to l.hueso@nanogune.eu and v.dediu@bo.ismn.cnr.it using the word template before September 21th. Contributions from young and female researchers are especially welcomed.

For a better planning please register as a regular attendant to ECMOLS 2018 before September 21st indicating your participation to the WG1&2 Workshop.

Participants belonging to the COST Action MOLSPIN can be eligible for reimbursement of living expenses under COST rules.

We are looking forward to see you in Peníscola.
