The Instituto de Ciencia Molecular, ICMol, of the Universitat de València, held a scientific colloquium on 1 June with the participation of three Nobel Laureates in Chemistry: Jean-Marie Lehn, Jean-Pierre Sauvage and Michael Levitt. The event took place at the Marie Curie Auditorium of the Parc Científic de la Universitat de València and was opened by the Director of ICMol, Eugenio Coronado.
The Nobel Colloquium brought together three researchers whose contributions have decisively shaped the development of contemporary chemistry. Jean-Marie Lehn is considered one of the founders of supramolecular chemistry; Jean-Pierre Sauvage was recognised for his pioneering work on molecular machines; and Michael Levitt has made fundamental contributions to the development of computational models for complex chemical systems.
During the opening session, Eugenio Coronado welcomed the attendees and highlighted the importance of bringing leading international scientific figures into a direct dialogue with students, researchers and the university community.
Participants then had the opportunity to engage directly with the three scientists, ask questions and take part in an open exchange on research, scientific careers and current challenges in chemistry.
The event began with a welcome coffee and continued with a dialogue session with the Nobel Laureates, addressing topics related to the evolution of chemistry, interdisciplinary research and the role of new generations in advancing science.
The activity brought internationally recognised scientific figures closer to the university environment and reinforced the value of direct dialogue between established researchers, young scientists and students.
