ICMol explores new technology transfer opportunities in a hands-on workshop with...

The Institute of Molecular Science (ICMol) at the Universitat de València held a hands-on workshop on technology transfer and innovation on 16 October, led by Mauro Xesteira, Tech Entrepreneurship Senior Officer at València Innovation Capital. The activity, funded by the Valencian Institute for Competitiveness and Innovation (IVACE+i), focused on identifying potential applications and market opportunities for scientific research results.

How can a technology developed in the laboratory address a real-world need? Who could benefit from it? What needs to be validated before considering its introduction to the market? These were some of the questions explored during the workshop “From Technology to Market: Discover Where Your Research Can Create Value”, held at ICMol.

Aimed at researchers, the session provided practical tools to identify potential applications for technologies, patents and research results, while exploring potential users and the problems these innovations could help solve.

From scientific capabilities to technology transfer opportunities

During the workshop, Mauro Xesteira, a specialist in technology entrepreneurship and innovation who also teaches in these fields, explored how to turn a technological capability into a proposal addressing specific needs.

Through practical examples, participants worked on identifying problems, defining potential users and validating hypotheses about a technology's potential.

The workshop's approach introduced participants to knowledge transfer from the early stages of research, without requiring previous experience in entrepreneurship.

A space to connect research and innovation

The event also included a coffee break and networking session, followed by an open discussion where participants exchanged questions and ideas about the potential for transferring scientific research results.

Through initiatives such as this, ICMol aims to foster a culture of innovation and knowledge transfer, helping its researchers identify new opportunities to apply scientific advances and explore their potential impact beyond academia.

The activity received funding from IVACE+i (Valencian Institute for Competitiveness and Innovation).
