• Molecular Spintronics
is a new field of research that combines the ideas and concepts developed in spintronics with the possibilities offered by molecules to perform
electronic functions, to form self-organized nanostructures and to exhibit quantum effects.

It ultimate goal is the creation of new spintronic devices using molecular materials, or in the longer term one or a few molecules in the race
    toward miniaturization.
  • To reach this goal a coordinated effort of the communities of Spintronics, Molecular Electronics and Molecular Magnetism is needed.

These communities are developing a very competitive and high-quality work in Europe in their respective fields. Still, Molecular Spintronics is so
new that an initiative to encourage networking of researchers in this field is of paramount importance.

The present COST ACTION intends to fill this gap integrating these communities around a common Action that should serve to consolidate the
world-leadership of Europe in this field.

7th Workshop on 2D Materials (W2DM2019) and COST MolSpin Workshop
"2D Materials in Molecular Spintronics"
May 23rd and 24th 2019 - Centro de Congresos "Ciutat d'Elx" in Elche (Alicante, Spain)
2D materials, and among them the class of transition metal dichalcogenides, are emerging as a very promising class of materials for a variety of functional nano-scale devices, ranging from optoelectronics to field-effect transistors, valleytronics, 2D magnets and spintronics. Despite their extremely intriguing properties, these materials have not yet found applications in molecular spintronics. The workshop brings together specialists on molecular spintronics and 2D materials in a relaxed atmosphere to promote scientific discussions and new collaborations that will contribute to the development of molecular spintronics concepts based on 2D materials. The workshop will take place on 23rd and 24th May 2019 having the 1st day a joint program with ESMolNa2019.

The workshop consists of 3 invited talks plus a number of contributed talks. Invited speakers are:

Emanuele Orgiu, Molecular and device physics laboratory, Canada
“When molecules meet 2D materials: hybrid van der Waals Heterostructures”

Felix Casanova, CIC nanoGUNE, San Sebastian, Spain
“Spintronics with 2D-material-based heterostructures”

Stefano Dal Conte, Politecnico di Milano, Italy
“Ultrafast dynamics in 2D transition metal dichalcogenides and related heterostructures”.

For a better planning please register as a regular attendant to ESMolNa 2019 before April 30th selecting that you will participate in the W2DM + MolSpin Workshop.

We are looking forward to see you in Elche.
