FIRST CIRCULAR ISCOM 2007


SEVENTH INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON CRYSTALLINE ORGANIC METALS, SUPERCONDUCTORS AND FERROMAGNETS

INTRODUCTION

The meeting will be held in the Congress Palace of Peñíscola (Spain). Participants are expected to aor evening of Monday, September 24th. A Welcome Reception is planned for September 24th evening at the Papa Luna Hotel. The Scientific Program will start on Tuesday, September 25th morning and it will end on the evening of Saturday, September 29th, just before the official Banquet of the conference. The number of participants will be limited to ca. 250.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Registration and Fees : The registration fee, which will include the Welcome Reception, excursion and the official Banquet will be 400 € (250 € for students and 150 € for accompanying persons).

Correspondence: All correspondence related with the conference will be maintained through the web site www.icmol.es/iscom2007

Location: All the participants will be accommodated at the Papa Luna Hotel, nearby the Congress Palace . The special conference rates for full board accommodation (arrival 24th, departure 30th) are 450 € for single occupancy and 310 € per person for double occupancy (other options for multiple occupancy and children will be also available on a limited basis). Reservations have to be made through the travel agency "Viajes Clemente". Further details will be given in our second circular.

Student bursaries: A number of bursaries will be available to attend the conference covering registration and/or accommodation expenses. Details and an application form will be included in the second circular and in the web site.

Travel and climate : Peñíscola is located in the east coast of Spain , 145 Km north from Valencia , and 225 Km south from Barcelona. This village is accessible by rail (from Valencia or Barcelona. Stop in Benicarló station) and road (highway AP7). Buses from Valencia airport will be arranged by the organization. In September the climate is rather warm (20- 30 ºC) with occasional showers.

SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM

The interdisciplinary field of Crystalline Molecular conductors, Superconductors and Ferromagnets brings together chemists, physicists and materials researchers. ISCOM 2007 will be an excellent opportunity to discuss all aspects of this truly exciting field of research including chemistry, physics, materials science, nanoscience, engineering and device fabrication. The conference will cover the following topics:

  • Synthesis of new molecules and materials
  • Multifunctional molecular materials
  • Physics of low dimensional metals and superconductors
  • Molecular magnetism
  • Molecular nanoscience
  • Theory, modelling and computation
  • Processing and applications

REGISTRATION AND HOTEL RESERVATIONS

The on-line registration and hotel reservation sites can be found at this web.
A limited number of individual rooms will be available at the hotel, so please, if you would like to request individual accommodation make your reservations as soon as possible. Once all individual rooms are reserved, the rest of participants will be accommodated in rooms with double occupancy.

A small number of family rooms (for 3 or 4 people) are also available.

SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS

Instructions for the preparation and submission of abstracts can be found here:

All abstracts have to meet the characteristics described in the web site, and participants are welcome to use the template file provided (MicrosoftWord format). The deadline for abstracts submission is April 20th.

REQUEST FOR FINANCIAL SUPPORT

Bursaries will be available to support young scientists to attend the meeting. The deadline for applications is May 15th. In order to apply for this financial support, please send your abstract before this date, together with a brief CV, including your current status, field of interest, and research group you are working, along a letter of recommendation from a senior researcher in the field.

SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM

The program schedule will be divided in morning and evening sessions, with free time for informal discussions in the afternoon. Morning sessions will be devoted to oral presentations, including a plenary lecture of 40 minutes + 5 minutes for discussion, and several contributed talks of 20 minutes. Evening sessions will start with a plenary lecture and two contributed talks. Afterwards a poster session will take place including flash presentations of 5 minutes from some selected posters Contributed talks and flash presentations will be selected from the received abstracts.
